A Gainesville man is accused of rubbing feces on the face and in the mouth of an 8-year-old boy, according to authorities.
Eliseo Banda-Quaroz, 42, was charged with first- and third-degree child cruelty.
Hall County Sheriff’s Office investigators started an investigation a week ago after a referral from a local shelter.
“According to the preliminary investigation, on April 28, Banda-Quaroz rubbed feces on the face and in the mouth of an 8-year-old boy. The incident occurred in the presence of a 12-year-old girl,” Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth wrote in an email.
Booth said Banda-Quaroz also allegedly ‘beat and kicked the mother of the children on and about her arm, leg and ribcage” in the presence of both children. The woman was bruised.
The sheriff’s office warrant unit arrested Banda-Quaroz on Tuesday, May 21, and he was booked in to the Hall County Jail with no bond Wednesday, May 22.
He was also charged with battery.
The case is still under investigation.
