Gainesville drug treatment center pays $20K in civil settlement

A Gainesville narcotic treatment program will pay $20,000 to settle allegations in federal court about not keeping complete and accurate records of the drugs sold and received. According to a Department of Justice news release, the federal government’s allegation was Lanier Treatment Center did not comply with regulations on controlled substances. “Accountability audits conducted by the DEA revealed overages and shortages of methadone in 2010 and 2013,” according to the news release.
