Motorists could hit traffic delays and lane closures in downtown Gainesville Thursday, Sept. 20, because of several events scheduled around the same time.
The Gainesville square will be closed to all traffic, including at West Academy Street, at Spring Street and Washington Street at Green Street, according to a Gainesville Police Department press release.
“Motorists are asked to use alternate routes to avoid any delays or congestion,” the release states.
One of the events is the Gainesville High School homecoming parade.
Also planned is Gainesville Goes Gold, a free event bringing awareness to childhood cancer. It is being held 6-8 p.m. on the square, featuring food trucks, petting zoo and other activities.
