The unemployment rate for the Gainesville metro area is the lowest it has been since April 2008 and is the lowest in the state. The rate declined to 4.2 percent in November, down from 4.7 the month before and from 5.2 the year before. Employers created 700 jobs in November, most in trade, transportation and warehousing, according to the Department of Labor.
