Gainesville officials on Tuesday approved an additional $34,000 in reimbursement costs to Grelove LLC for work to expand sewer access to commercial properties along Athens Highway.
The city had originally paid about $60,000 to support the sewer construction as a way to aid development of the area.
The added costs arose from difficult terrain and maneuvering around existing utilities in the area between Wilson Drive and Old County Dump Road, according to Grelove.
According to city staff reports, “During construction, the developer encountered unforeseen conditions, which increased construction costs …”
City manager Bryan Lackey said the project is now complete and no additional reimbursement costs will be required.
