Free Chapel’s reach keeps growing.
The church led by the Rev. Jentezen Franklin, based off McEver Road in Gainesville, is adding a Midtown campus in Atlanta starting this Sunday, April 8.
“It’s always been a dream for me to have a church in Atlanta,” Franklin said in a Thursday, April 5, phone interview with The Times. “We’ve been moving that way for six years.”
The new campus services will be held at 6 p.m. each Sunday, with Franklin preaching each week at Center Stage Theater, located at 1374 West Peachtree St.
Franklin said some staff members from Free Chapel’s Gainesville campus will help launch the Midtown campus, with more staff being added at there as it grows.
The pastor said Free Chapel’s multigenerational reach will be a benefit to Midtown.
“We feel like our church has something to offer that’s unique,” Franklin said.
He added that some people have already been driving to Free Chapel in Gainesville from Atlanta and that they would welcome having a Free Chapel campus closer to them.
Being near so many college campuses is something Franklin said will provide a great opportunity for outreach for the new Free Chapel campus. He said the auditorium will have seating for 1,000 people.
Free Chapel is encouraging those coming to services to use North Midtown parking, and child care will be available.
Free Chapel has Buford and Gwinnett campuses in addition to its Gainesville and Midtown locations, plus campuses in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Orange County in California.
Franklin anticipates more campuses in the Atlanta area in coming years and is excited about seeing the Midtown campus get going.
“We’re in it for the long haul,” Franklin said.
Franklin will be signing copies of his new book “Love Like You’ve Never Been Hurt” at this Sunday’s service.
