FORSYTH COUNTY — A late night single-vehicle crash Tuesday claimed the life of a South Forsyth High School senior who had just turned 17 on Sunday.
According to Investigator Ron Tomblin, traffic specialist with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Derek Austin Buraczynski of Woodcliff Drive was southbound on Ga. 400 and tried to exit at Ga. 141 when his 2000 Ford Explorer left the road about halfway up the exit ramp.
Buraczynski was killed when the vehicle rolled over several times and came to rest with its top against a pine tree. A passing motorist spotted the wreck just after 5 a.m. Wednesday and called 911.
Buraczynski previously had been reported missing by his father when he missed an 11 p.m. curfew at home, according to authorities.
The cause of the wreck is under investigation, but alcohol does not appear to have been a factor, according to authorities.
