Saturday, some South Hall officers made Christmas a little brighter for the kids in their jurisdiction.
The Flowery Branch Police Department held its first "Shop with a Cop" event at the Wal-Mart in Oakwood.
Six children between the ages of 5 and 10 were chosen by teachers and administrators at Flowery Branch Elementary School to take part in the event, based on financial need.
Organizers said they also wanted to give children the chance to spend time with officers in a positive atmosphere in an effort to build bonds with the youth of Flowery Branch.
Children had a budget of $250 each and picked presents such as video games, basketball goals and fishing poles with help from their police officer escorts.
The police department also wished to thank all the businesses and individuals who helped in the event and made donations.
