A Flowery Branch man was killed in a one-vehicle accident Thursday night, police said.

Alan Todd Yearwood, 39, died after his car collided with a telephone pole, Flowery Branch Police Chief Gerald Lanich said.

Yearwood’s Chevrolet Suburban was heading northbound on Atlanta Highway at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday when it ran off the right shoulder of the road near Myers Street just north of Spout Springs Road, Lanich said.

The car struck the utility pole and Yearwood was found dead at the scene, Lanich said.

There were no other people in the car and no witnesses to the accident, Lanich said.

The crash remains under investigation.
