Three adults and three children escaped a fire Friday morning that destroyed their home in the 3200 block of Couch Circle off Cleveland Highway in North Hall County.

Firefighters responded to the 9:30 a.m. call from a neighbor to find the 1,200-square-foot structure about 50 percent involved in flames, Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said.

The home was a total loss with damage estimated at $125,000, Kimbrell said. The American Red Cross was called to assist the occupants. Two dogs also were reported to be in the house. Kimbrell said one was found dead and the other was not located.
