Fire destroyed a 1,200-square-foot home in the 4500 block of Benefield Road Thursday night, but no injuries were reported.

Passersby and neighbors reported the home's roof on fire around 9 p.m., and firefighters found the home engulfed in heavy fire when they arrived, Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said.

The home's only occupant at the time was checked for injuries but was OK, Kimbrell said.

A fire investigator was looking into what caused the fire.
