Forsyth County authorities recovered the body of a female from Lake Lanier at Two Mile Creek in east Forsyth on Friday, Oct. 12.
Cpl. Jenny Belafi of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said the body was reported by boaters at about 11:45 a.m. after it was seen partially submerged in water near Vann’s Tavern Park.
Belafi said the body is en route to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Lab for further investigation. Authorities could not comment on the identity of the female or the cause of death. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition. Belafi said more info could be released sometime next week.
The scene was handled by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and the Forsyth County Fire Department. Belafi said that investigators from Hall County and the Department of Natural Resources were on scene but did not take part in the investigation.
