Parents of young Gainesville students have a few important upcoming dates to note.

Gainesville City Schools recently announced the dates for enrollment and registration at all grade levels.

Kindergarten enrollment for next school year will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 11-22 at each school. Pre-K registration will take place Feb. 1-5 at New Holland Knowledge Academy at 170 Barn St. in Gainesville, and the lottery drawing for pre-K spots will take place Feb. 15.

For registration, parents will need the child’s birth certificate, immunization form No. 3231, ears, eyes and dental certificate No. 3300, Social Security card — if available — and two documents proving residency, which should include a copy of a current lease or mortgage agreement, a current pay stub, a current homeowner’s insurance policy or a copy of a recent utility bill. Parents will also need a photo ID.

All students who are enrolling in a city school for the first time in all grades, and who live in the city limits, should register at the school board office, located at 508 Oak St. from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. They will need the same registration documents as first-time pre-K and kindergarten students.

Non-city residents can register as well from Jan. 11-22, and they will need the student’s birth certificate, immunization form No. 3231, ears, eyes and dental certificate No. 3300, Social Security card and school transcripts/records. They will be notified of acceptance or denial to the school by Feb. 1.

For currently enrolled students, choice enrollment forms will go home Jan. 8. They are due by Jan. 22. Students whose forms are not submitted by that date will be placed in the school in which they are currently enrolled.
