DOT defers to city traffic study on Green Street left turns

The Georgia Department of Transportation briefly examined the potential for no left turns on Green Street, but the issue now appears enveloped in Gainesville’s ongoing study of transportation issues citywide. The issue surfaced at a May 7 transportation meeting when Mayor Danny Dunagan asked DOT to study the matter. “We rode up there after the meeting, and it looks like prohibiting left turns for 12 hours per day may be a little over the top,” said Julia Billings of DOT’s Office of Planning to DOT District Traffic Engineer Scott E. Zehngraff in a May 8 email.
