SEATTLE — A staff sergeant from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Alexander G. Povilaitis of Dawsonville, died in Afghanistan this week, the Department of Defense said Saturday. Povilaitis died in Kandahar province of wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device. The 47-year-old was assigned to 14th Engineer Battalion, 555th Engineer Brigade, and stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state.
