A Gainesville man and a Dawsonville man were among 25 people arrested this week in a statewide sweep of child pornography suspects.

Jesus Elias Martinez Jr., a 21-year-old poultry plant worker who lived in the 2200 block of Athens Highway, was arrested during a traffic stop Wednesday night as part of "Operation: Shattered Innocence," Georgia Bureau of Investigation Agent Mitch Posey said.

Authorities believe Martinez may have sent or received as many as 600 sexually explicit images of children on his computer.

A warrant for felony exploitation of a child charges that Martinez "did knowingly possess and control computer images which depicted a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct."

Agents carried out a search warrant at Martinez’s home on Wednesday, one of dozens of raids conducted this week across the state.

In Dawsonville, Jody Chadwick, 35, of Mulkey Road, was arrested on four counts of sexual exploitation of children, accused of possessing three videos and one still image of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct, authorities said.

Two teenagers also are among the accused.

A 14-year-old from Forsyth County was arrested on state charges of transmitting child pornography.

The arrests are the result of a three-month investigation coordinated by the GBI and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Posey said some cases will be referred to the U.S. Attorney’s office for prosecution.

Martinez and Chadwick remained in jail Thursday.
