DAWSONVILLE — Dawson County has been recognized by the Association County Commissioners of Georgia’s Fourth Annual County Excellence Award program.

In Touch with Dawson County, the county’s communications initiative, was chosen by a committee made up of public and private sector officials as well as individuals who have previously served as county elected officials.

In Touch with Dawson County was the result of having identified in 2007 the need to enhance communications with the county’s residents.

In Touch with Dawson County includes Dawson County Citizens Academy, electronic newsletters for citizens and employees, a monthly newspaper column by County Manager Kevin Tanner, meetings with neighborhood groups, students and civic clubs, and consistent delivery of information highlighting programs, services, events and achievements.

Dawson County is now a two-time recipient of the prestigious ACCG County Excellence Awards. In 2007, the county was recognized for "Partnership in Learning" for the collaboration of the Adult Learning Center.
