Danny’s Donuts to add Dawsonville Highway location
Owner also looking at third location in Oakwood
Freshly baked doughnuts await customers Nov. 15, 2016, at Danny’s Donuts on Main Street in Gainesville. The family-owned doughnut shop also serves breakfast burritos, breakfast bagels, muffins, boba smoothies and ice blend coffee.

Andy Nuon may have found his next sweet spot on Dawsonville Highway/Ga. 53 in Gainesville.

The Danny’s Donuts owner said Monday he hopes to open his second Hall County location in the Kohl's-anchored McEver Corners Shopping Center off Ga. 53 and McEver Road in early December.

Deciding on the location was easy.

“There’s a lot of shopping centers and Dawsonville Highway has a lot of traffic,” Nuon said. “That location needs doughnuts there, also.”

The 1,400-square-foot shop will directly face Ga. 53, so the right-in and right-out access will be especially easy for southbound traffic headed toward McEver.

The menu will be the same as at the current location at 417 Main St. SW in Gainesville, just behind the CVS Pharmacy on Jesse Jewell Parkway.

Offerings there are breakfast pastries and croissants, as well a long list of doughnuts, smoothies and coffees.

The first location opened in September 2016, with work starting on the new shop this summer, Nuon said.

He is looking to open a third location at the Kroger-anchored shopping center off Winder Highway/Ga. 53 in Oakwood.

Nuon and his family first ran a doughnut shop in California, and he did extensive research before making the move to Georgia.

“I did two years of research with my uncle going all over Georgia,” he said in an earlier interview. “Gainesville, yes, has doughnut shops like Dunkin’ Donuts, but family-owned? There is none. So we’re going to put the first one here.”
