The new Dahlonega city councilman was able to snag his seat Tuesday with just four more votes than the competition.

Johnny Ariemma received 116 votes, Geoffrey Kridel 112 and George "Bud" Clegg 96, according to City Clerk Janet Jarrard.

Ariemma will fill the Post 2 position that was vacated after Guy Laboa resigned in December.

Jarrard said Ariemma will serve the remainder of Laboa’s term, approximately nine months.

In Lula, voters rejected a ballot referendum to allow sales of distilled spirits, with 106 people voting against the measure and 90 voting in favor.

The measure was put on the ballot as a result of a petition.
