Cyclist injured in Oakwood hit-and-run identified as homeless man
Oakwood police are searching for a metallic blue 2013 or 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, similar to the one pictured here but with extensive damage to the right front bumper and missing the right-side mirror.

The cyclist hit by a car Tuesday on Mundy Mill Road at Fairbanks Drive in Oakwood has been identified by police.

Oakwood police investigator Danny Sridej said the roughly 30-year-old man is homeless and has three different names attached to him.

“All we know is he’s homeless and there’s no contact information, no family listed, nothing,” he said.

The names are Gonzalez Garcia, Solovino Morales and Marcelo Morales. The third name was given to police at the accident scene, Sridej said, which took place around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The victim was in critical condition and was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

“He’s not doing too well right now,” Sridej said Thursday evening. “From what I understand, his condition is not as good as yesterday.”

Sridej said the man was still in the intensive care unit.

Oakwood police are still looking for a 2013 or 2014 model metallic blue Chevrolet Malibu, based on the parts found by investigators at the scene. The vehicle sustained extensive damage to the right front bumper and was missing its right-side mirror.

Anyone with information on the incident or the vehicle is asked to call police at 770-534-2364.
