PoliceLights

A Cumming man died after crashing into a dump truck on Interstate 85 late Friday, Sept. 28.

Micah Marshall was driving south in the left lane when his MINI Cooper struck the rear of the truck, driven by Donald Tolbert of Dawsonville, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The state patrol was called to the wreck at 11:28 p.m. about a mile north of the Old Winder Highway/Ga. 211 exit, a few miles south of the Hall County line.

The dump truck had been traveling south on I-85 in the left lane, coming to a stop due to traffic congestion stemming from roadwork, the GSP said.

“For unknown reasons, the dump truck became disabled and the driver of the dump truck placed emergency warning triangles behind his vehicle,” Assistant Post Commander Cpl. Luke E. Mize said in an email.

Tolbert was not in his vehicle at the time of the crash and was uninjured, Mize said.
