The 45th annual Cracker Fly-In air show originally scheduled for this morning at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport in Gainesville has been canceled. The event was expected to attract 165 aircraft from across the Southeast.

“The weather was just too bad for some of our planes,” said Richard Strickland, an event organizer. “We don’t know yet if we are going to reschedule or not.”

The show is sponsored by chapter 611 of the Experimental Aircraft Association.

Strickland encouraged residents to check for information on a potential reschedule date.

A celebration that was set for Friday in Flowery Branch was rained out but is rescheduled for next week.

The Sterling on the Lake concert and fireworks will be held July 12, according to Jenifer Pomerantz, activities director for the subdivision. Dance performances begin at 4 p.m. and the band Twiste Whiskey will perform.

There is a parking fee of $15 for nonresidents. This fee includes free temporary tattoos, facepainting and access to the inflatable bounce house.
