County to consider vendor for retirement accounts

The Hall County Board of Commissioners will likely select a vendor to manage employee retirement accounts this week.

The board will receive a recommendation at the work session today from the Human Resources Department and is expected to vote Thursday on the matter.

In January, county officials requested to put the retirement plan out to bid.

Human Resources Director Bill Moats said vendors’ proposals have now been scored and rated by a 15-person committee, which included employees from several county departments.

The vendor will be responsible for retirement account record keeping, choosing funds to invest in, as well as providing compliance, among other things.

Moats said county officials, along with the selected vendor, will tackle the retirement plan design next, which could include changes to the types of investment funds used.

In other business today, the board is scheduled to consider a few rezoning requests for residential development and boat and RV storage.

The board also is scheduled to consider contracts for medical services at the Hall County Correctional Institute and Hall County Detention Center.

The Hall County Board of Commissioners work session begins at 3 p.m. at the government center, 2875 Browns Bridge Road, Gainesville.
