County looking to add turn lanes near 3 North Hall schools
Hall County was passed over for a state grant to make improvements at Jim Hood and Odum Smallwood roads near Mount Vernon Exploratory School in North Hall, but the county still plans to move forward with the project.

The Hall County Board of Commissioners is looking to spend about $725,000 to add turn lanes and other fixes to improve traffic flow at the intersection of Jim Hood and Odum Smallwood roads.

“It’s just heavily congested,” Commissioner Scott Gibbs told The Times following a work session discussion on the road project Monday, April 23.

Officials hope realigning the intersection will alleviate congestion around Mount Vernon Elementary and through traffic headed to and from North Hall middle and high schools.

“It should improve flow for all of them,” Gibbs said, adding that it should make the area safer, too.
