Dollar General has honored Roger Akins, a local store sales associate at the Garnett Street store in Buford, with a 2017 Serving Others award. Akins was recognized for his philanthropy and commitment to volunteerism with the Scope of Life Illuminates Destiny.

In a special company ceremony on July 31 in Nashville, Akins was presented with the Serving Others award for his district. To further recognize Akins’ volunteer work, Dollar General has donated $2,500 to the Hall County Community Council on Aging’s Meals on Wheels program on his behalf.

The Serving Others award is presented to employees who live out the company’s mission every day, both at work and in their personal lives. This year, 10 Dollar General employees were honored with the award.
