Four Gainesville City Schools bands earned superior ratings in the Georgia Music Educators Association’s Large Group Performance Evaluation held March 16-18 at Jefferson High School’s performing arts center.

Gainesville Middle School, represented by seventh-grade and eighth-grade concert bands, and Gainesville High School, represented by ninth-grade and 10th-grade concert band and 11th-grade and 12th-grade concert band, participated in the event.

Music selections were chosen from an approved list.

Superior ratings are the highest possible honor in the evaluation, equivalent to an end-of-course test.

The award-winning groups are scheduled to perform for the public at their spring concerts in May. The seventh-grade concert will be at the GMS gymnasium at 7 p.m. May 5, and the eighth-grade and high school bands will perform at Lakewood Baptist Church at 7 p.m. May 12.
