Charges filed in new Lula marijuana case
Jessie Westbrook

A second Lula man in less than two weeks has been arrested on charges of manufacturing marijuana.

Jessie William Westbrook, 21, turned himself in to Hall County Sheriff’s Office authorities Monday morning on the charges.

Lt. Scott Ware, with the Gainesville/Hall County Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad, said that the eight marijuana plants were located behind Westbrook’s residence last week.

“We went up there and he wasn’t home,” Ware said. “But we found marijuana plants behind the house. One of the agents made contact with him a day or so later, and he agreed to turn himself in, which he did.”

The marijuana is valued at $16,000. There were eight plants confiscated, each in a 5-gallon bucket.

Ware said that this incident is “not at all related” to last week’s arrest of Wayne William Grindle, who was charged with possession of marijuana, manufacturing marijuana and possession of methamphetamine.

Officers had confiscated $24,000 worth of marijuana, as well as firearms and traces of methamphetamine, from Grindle’s residence.
