Ten familiar Hall County faces will spend 10 hours this spring trying something new for charity.

The third annual Dancing for a Cause will be 7 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Chattahoochee Country Club in Gainesville, and the local “celebrity dancers” for the event were recently announced.

Celebrity dancers represent multiple facets of the community, including local churches, city government, schools, businesses and more.

The celebrity dancers are Liz Coates, Sam Couvillon, Chris Hallowes, Brook Kalinauskas, Brett Mercer, Strother Randolph, Michelle Rawdin, Jene Robocker, Janice Rogers and Doug Stewart.

The event benefits three Hall County organizations: the Gainesville-Hall County Alliance for Literacy, Center Point and Rape Response.

“The 2015 event raised over $140,000,” said Dorothy Shinafelt, executive director of the Gainesville-Hall County Alliance for Literacy. “And of course we are hoping to top that (this year).”

The celebrity dancers will be paired with a professional dancing partner at a “Meet Your Partner” event May 19 at the North Georgia Community Foundation. Dancers will then spend about 10 hours in dance instruction before the competition in August.

The official website for the event, www.dancehallcounty.org, will go live April 12 with all the event information and celebrity photos.
