A downtown Buford restaurant was damaged and one employee received minor injuries after a car drove through the restaurant Wednesday afternoon.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday, a woman mistakenly pressed on the gas pedal rather than the brake on her white Mazda Millennia and drove through Rico’s World Kitchen at 306 W. Main St., according to the Gwinnett County Police Department.

The collision caused debris to shift inside the restaurant, according to police. An employee sitting in the back of the restaurant was struck by some of the debris and received minor injuries.

The employee was treated by first responders, then decided to go to the hospital with a family member, according to police.
