A College Park man died after a wreck Tuesday night in Gainesville, according to Georgia State Patrol.

Charles Roger Conner, 63, died Tuesday night as a result of his injuries. GSP officials said Conner was driving northbound on Candler Road near Oakbrook Drive. GSP Trooper Jonathan Folendore said the crash came after the man negotiated a curve in the road.

“Conner traveled off of the roadway for quite a distance before overturning and becoming ejected as the result of the impact,” GSP Sgt. First Class G.R. Harper wrote in an email.

GSP said it believes Conner was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The car landed on the other side of the railroad tracks with the headlights pointed up toward the trees.

The crash backed up traffic around 9 p.m. Tuesday in both directions of Candler Road. The congestion eased after 10 p.m. following the arrival of the towing company.
