A new kind of workspace is opening its doors in Gainesville at The Times building, and it’s not your typical office.

The 24/7 co-working hub will officially open on April 2 and celebrate its arrival with a community open house.

“It’s going to offer something completely different than anything else we have in the county,” said Stacey Smith, Audience Engagement Director. “It’s going to be your new office away from home.”

From 3 to 6:30 p.m., the public is invited to explore Pressworks Work Club, a ‘premium workspace community designed for ambitious professionals, entrepreneurs, and creators who demand excellence.’

Guests can enjoy fresh coffee, light refreshments, guided tours of the space, and the chance to connect with other local professionals. Attendees will also be able to enter a raffle for a chance to win a surprise gift.

About the Space

Pressworks Work Club was designed with the intention of being modern, industrial and organic with neutral tones, green foliage, vintage-style rugs, ambient lighting, low music and a pop of blue.

“We really wanted to bring in some warmth and grounding, make it feel like a cozy space,” Smith said. “So, you’ll see a lot of natural woods, warm tones, leather, and lots of plants. We want it to feel fresh and not stuffy.”

Named in honor of the former Gainesville Times Printing Press, Pressworks will also be filled with memorabilia displayed throughout the facility such as old newspapers, letterpress, and microfilm machine.

“It’s an ode to the heritage of the building,” Smith said. “We’re dedicated to keep that memory and history even as we continue to move forward into this new chapter at The Times building.”

The Times weekly print editions will also be available to read for free throughout the space, and members will receive a special discount on digital subscriptions.

As a 24/7 access co-working space, Pressworks Work Club members will have access to fast Wi-Fi, ample parking, desk space, and a free coffee bar. Members will also have the opportunity to reserve time in a podcast studio with two microphones and soundboard, eight-seat conference room with a TV, and three sound-dampening phone booths.

Throughout the main co-working space, guests will find a variety of seating from booths and group tables to leather couches and high-tops.

A “quiet room” will also be available for all members looking for less distractions. In this room, there will be no music or talking allowed.

Electrical outlets are conveniently placed throughout the facility inside the concrete floors and installed in booth seats and tables.

Pressworks will also have six personal offices available as furnished or unfurnished.

Located just a short walk from the Downtown Gainesville Square, members will have easy access to restaurants, coffee shops and retailers. For those not wanting to leave the building to enjoy lunch, a breakroom will be available with a refrigerator, hot and cold water dispenser, microwave and several tables and chairs.

“It’s more than just an office; it’s a second home,” Smith said. “It will be a fantastic opportunity to just learn new things, embrace community, and maybe even make a couple new friends.”

How to become a member

Memberships start at a rate of $100 a month, which includes 24/7 access to the main co-working space, all amenities and a discounted subscription to The Times. Rates for the six personal office spaces differ per square footage.

Memberships operate on a no contract, month-to-month basis, and all members will receive a keycard to access the building as needed.

During the open house, visitors will have the opportunity to become a member on site and may even have the chance to receive a special membership offer, starting at just $50 a month for the first 12 months. This discount is only available to the first 25 founding members.

“We’re just really excited to get members in here,” Smith said. “It’s going to be a really unique space, and we hope that the community loves it, values it, and checks it out.”
