Wal-Mart Stores announced Friday that the Gainesville Supercenter located at 400 Shallowford Road will undergo renovations beginning Monday.

Originally built in 1993, the store will be remodeled to upgrade the store's features.

The plans include wider aisles, an updated layout, upgraded fixtures, renovated pharmacy and restrooms and a new color scheme inside and out. The store also will have expanded departments.

The remodeling is expected to be complete by September. All the store's departments and services will remain open during the process.

"During the remodel phase, the majority of construction and moving will be completed during the overnight hours," said store manager Anthony Howard. "We want to make it easy for customers to continue to shop at the store."
