North Georgia Freight has acquired the assets and operations of Dahlonega Transport, a nationwide truckload carrier of general commodities.
The announcement was made this week by Chris Rainey, president of North Georgia Freight.
"The purchase of Dahlonega Transport will expand North Georgia Freight's operation to all points in the continental United States," Rainey said.
"The trucking industry is going through tough times because of an erratic economy and high fuel costs," he said. "But we believe a well-managed, service-oriented company dedicated to giving a high level of consistent on-time delivery will grow and profit."
The company will operate facilities in Dahlonega and Macon.
