TLC's Jenkins honored with award
Dr. W. Thomas "Tommy" Jenkins of The Center for Women's Health at The Longstreet Clinic recently was honored with the Alpha Omega Alpha Volunteer Clinical Faculty Award presented by the Medical College of Georgia.
Jenkins was selected for the award by his peers, faculty, staff and alumni. It was presented in April at the AOA's annual banquet in Augusta.
The award is in recognition of "outstanding personal and professional achievements" and "continued dedication to excellence in medical education of our students," said Dr. Clarence Joe with Alpha Omega Alpha.
Jenkins was elected to the Alpha of Georgia Chapter in 2009. He began practicing in Gainesville in 1978 and is a founding member of The Longstreet Clinic. He served as the group's president from 2002-2004.
Jenkins is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, where he also completed his residency. He is a fellow with the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
"I am extremely proud of this department and its effort with regards to this teaching opportunity," Jenkins said.
