Neurologist McDonald merges with Longstreet
Neurologist Dr. Frank McDonald has merged his practice, Neurology Specialists of Georgia, with the The Longstreet Clinic, effective Jan. 1.
McDonald is board-certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and treats a variety of neurological diseases including headaches, epilepsy, stroke, neuromuscular diseases, dementia and movement disorders.
"Neurology Specialists works closely with referring physicians to diagnose and develop treatment plans for patients with neurological diseases," McDonald said. "Our focus on a team approach to achieve the optimum in patient care will continue as a member of The Longstreet Clinic."
"We plan to make this transition as smooth as possible for Dr. McDonald’s patients and employees," said Dr. Eugene Cindea, president of The Longstreet Clinic. "This merger is a significant decision, and we welcome Dr. McDonald to TLC."

The Longstreet Clinic has grown to include 80 physicians and more than 35 mid-level providers representing 12 specialties. It is ranked by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as the ninth largest physician group practice in Georgia, and it is the third largest independent group practice.
Based in Gainesville, its doctors serve patients at offices in Oakwood, Buford, Braselton, Dahlonega, Baldwin and Toccoa.
Funk is new director of state veterinary group
Dr. Denise Funk of Animal Medical Care of Gainesville has been appointed by the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association as director of the GVMA 9th District.
The GVMA serves to advance the veterinary medical profession and supports the veterinarian’s role in improving animal and public health. It is a liaison with the American Veterinarian Medical Association along with other professional and governmental agencies.
As director, Funk will represent more than 200 veterinarians in a 15-county region of Northeast Georgia.
Funk is co-founder and a board member of An-Emerge, a 24-hour emergency veterinarian clinic in Gainesville since 2003.
She has been with Animal Medical Care, an accredited member of the American Animal Hospital Association, since 1996.
Funk is a native of Hall County where she lives with her husband and two children.
