Schlieman joins Habitat board to manage finances

Gainesville resident Josh Schlieman, co-founder of Alpharetta-based Sullivan & Schlieman Wealth Management LLC, has been appointed a member of the Finance Committee for Habitat for Humanity-North Central Georgia.

He also has been named to Leadership North Fulton's Class of 2012.

As a member of Habitat's Finance Committee, Schlieman is responsible for reviewing financial matters for the ministry and help manage its growth. Schlieman also serves on the Resource Development Committee.

A merging of groups in North Fulton, Cherokee, Forsyth, and Dawson counties, Habitat for Humanity-North Central Georgia is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. The goal of Habitat for Humanity is to eliminate poverty housing by building adequate housing for people in need.

"It is a rewarding experience to be part of such a highly regarded non-profit group with its mission of reaching out and helping the community. I am excited to put my professional skills into action to support their efforts," Schlieman said.

Leadership North Fulton is a nine-month program sponsored by the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce. Its mission is to identify and develop leaders by promoting community awareness, instilling civic responsibility and building relationships.

"All of us at Sullivan & Schlieman believe in being ingrained in the community in which we work. As a member of Leadership North Fulton's Class of 2012, I look forward to expanding my knowledge and involvement in north Fulton," Schlieman said.

Windham becomes project manager at Prime Retail

Prime Retail Services of Gainesville has promoted Bob Windham to project manager.

Windham joined Prime in July 2004.

3 from Hall County chosen for Ga. Chamber's board

Three Hall County business leaders have been chosen to serve one-year terms on the board of directors for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.

The new board members include Kevin Adams of Infrasource, William Bradford Puryear of Mansfield Oil Co. and Elizabeth Umberson of ZF Wind Power, LLC.

"We are honored to welcome these men and women to our board and are excited to have their experience and knowledge added as part of our mission to grow and strengthen Georgia's business community," said Georgia Chamber President and CEO Chris Clark.

Gainesville's Watson earns insurance industry honors

Alva Drane Watson IV of Liberty Mutual Insurance in Gainesville has earned designation as a Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow.

The honor is given to insurance professionals who meet or exceed qualification standards determined by The American College and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.

In addition to the successful completion of five courses within a 10-course curriculum, LUTCF candidates must also complete an ethics course and be a member in good standing of NAIFA.

Watson and the other honorees will be recognized during The American College's Knowledge Summit and Commencement exercises in Las Vegas.

Watson is a member and recent local past president of the Gainesville Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and has been active in the insurance profession for more than 15 years. He has been an agent with Liberty Mutual since 1997, and has earned several life insurance achievement awards including the Silver and Golden Circle Awards.

His agency is located at 340 Jesse Jewell Parkway.
