Whitmire named regional president of Community Bank
J. Michael Whitmire has been named regional president of the Community Bank & Trust's Hall and Barrow county divisions.

Whitmire joined the company in 2008, and in his new capacity will direct the day-to-day operations of the company's 13 banking centers in Hall and Barrow counties. A community bank veteran, he is also active in community activities including service as board chairman for the United Way of Hall County and as chairman of the Elachee Nature Science Center. He recently completed a term as finance chairman for the Northeast Georgia Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

"With his extensive work experience in and around Hall County and his involvement in both civic and church activities, we are certain that Mike can bring new and valuable relationships to our team," said Charles M. Miller, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Community Bankshares Inc.

A native of Greenville, S.C., Whitmire earned his undergraduate degree in economics from Wofford College and his masters degree in business administration and finance from the University of Georgia.

Whitmire and his wife, Becky, are the parents of three children. They are members of Grace Episcopal Church in Gainesville where he serves on the Vestry.

Melvin named to board at Peach State Bank
John M. Melvin, a longtime Gainesville attorney, has joined the Peach State Bank's Community Development Board. The move takes place upon his retirement from a 40-year career at Stewart, Melvin & Frost.

Bank chairman William House said Melvin would join four other members of the Community Development Board, including Abit Massey, Steve McKibbon, Robert Rader and Jerry Rylee.

Melvin specialized in real estate law during his tenure as a practicing attorney. He has been active in a host of civic and arts-related causes throughout the community. Melvin has held a number of leadership positions in civic organizations and is a past president of the Rotary Club of Gainesville and was Rotary's Man of the Year in 1999.

He has also served as deacon and elder at the First Presbyterian Church and is a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from Gainesville State College and Brenau University.

"Certainly, Peach State Bank is delighted to have a person of John Melvin's character and history of achievement promoting the bank's interest and those of our community, in the business sector," House said.

He and his wife, Mary Lou, have two grown children.

Lamptey-Mills joins Northeast Georgia Inpatient
Ishmael Lamptey-Mills, M.D., has joined Northeast Georgia Inpatient Services' hospitalist program, an affiliate of The Longstreet Clinic.
Lamptey-Mills earned his medical degree from the University of Ghana. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Harlem Hospital Center in New York.

He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has medical staff privileges at Northeast Georgia Medical Center and its Lanier Park Campus.

Inpatient physicians, or "hospitalists," focus on caring for hospitalized patients by dedicating their practice to the hospital. Northeast Georgia Inpatient Services currently employs 20 physicians as well as certified nurse practitioners.

Yun joins Northeast Georgia Physicians Group
Dr. Inchol Yun has joined the staff of Northeast Georgia Physicians Group Thompson Bridge.

Yun received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and completed his residency in family medicine at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg, S.C.

He is board certified in family medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice, the American Medical Association and the Southern Medical Society. He spent the last 10 years practicing at Lawrenceville Family Practice.

"It was time for a change and I couldn't have picked a better place than Gainesville to practice" said Yun, an avid boater. "I love being so close to Lake Lanier."

He and his wife, Lesley, have two children.
