Flack is new VP for North Ga. Community Foundation
Callie Flack has been named as vice president of programs by the North Georgia Community Foundation.
Flack will manage the foundation's scholarship and endowment programs. She previously served as volunteer coordinator for Northeast Georgia Medical.

"Callie will fill an important role at the foundation, administering our scholarship and endowment programs," North Georgia Community Foundation President Jim Mathis said. "Callie has a strong background, having managed the medical center's volunteer and scholarship programs. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life in North Georgia and we strive to do that through our scholarships and endowments."

Flack is a graduate of the University Of Georgia Grady School of Journalism and is completing her MBA at Brenau University.

Founded in 1985 by Lou Fockele and other business leaders, the North Georgia Community Foundation manages charitable grants from a pool of community funds valued in excess of $31 million.

Conley promoted to audit senior by Rushton & Co.
The Rushton & Co., a Gainesville-based accounting firm, has announced the promotion of David Conley to audit senior.

In his new position, Conley will specialize in auditing of government, manufacturing, construction and nonprofit entities. He joined the firm in 2006 and earned his Certified Public Accountant certification in 2009.

Conley and his wife, Jennifer, have three children.

Roberts chosen to state bar Leadership Academy
Jennifer I. Robertson, an associate with Gainesville-based Stewart Melvin & Frost law firm, has been accepted into the State Bar of Georgia's prestigious Young Lawyers Division Leadership Academy for 2010.

The Young Lawyers Division is comprised of nearly 10,000 lawyers statewide and includes Georgia attorneys under the age of 36 or who have been admitted to the bar less than five years. Of those, 56 were chosen this year to participate in the academy.

Based in Atlanta, the Leadership Academy gives lawyers the opportunity to observe the Georgia legislature at the Capitol and to refine professional and pro bono skills. In addition, the academy educates young attorneys about timely issues, develops leadership skills and fosters mentoring between lawyers and state leaders.

The academy conducts sessions once a month for six months with meetings in Atlanta, Macon and Savannah with a graduation in Amelia Island, Fla.

"This is a profession that has the capacity to do a lot of good," Robertson said.

Robertson joined Stewart Melvin & Frost in 2008, where her practice focuses on civil litigation with an emphasis in employment litigation, contract disputes, and commercial business litigation. The Duke University graduate earned her law degree from Emory University School of Law.

Founded in 1936, Stewart Melvin & Frost specializes in a broad range of legal services throughout North Georgia.

Mergers add 6 physicians to Longstreet Clinic group
The Longstreet Clinic of Gainesville has added six new physicians as the result of a pair of mergers, effective Thursday.

Neurosurgeons Nabil Muhanna, Bruce J. Nixon and Karl D. Schultz Jr. have joined the clinic after a merger with Specialty Clinics of Georgia-Neurosurgery.

"The addition of these neurosurgeons allows us to expand our care to a specialty area where TLC was previously absent," said Eugene Cindea, Longstreet's president.

Muhanna is board certified in neurology and psychiatry. He completed residencies in surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, and served as the U.S. Army Chief of Neurosurgery.

Nixon is board certified in neurological surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada.

Schultz is board certified in neurological surgery. He completed his residency at Emory University and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

All three doctors will continue to see patients at their current Gainesville and Cumming locations.

Also joining Longstreet Clinic via merger are Surgical Specialists of Georgia physicians Charles D. Procter Jr., Robert Richard and Dan Procter.

"We're excited about adding the physicians from Surgical Specialists and their successful surgery services to our team of physicians and health care professionals," Cindea said. "Their combined experience, skills and training will be a real asset to TLC."

Dan Procter is board certified in general surgery and peripheral vascular surgery. Richard received his education and training at Cornell and Harvard and is board certified in general surgery. Charley Procter is board certified in general surgery and was general surgery chief resident at Greenville Memorial Medical Center in South Carolina.

They will continue to offer vascular surgery, bariatric surgery and vein care at 1250 Jesse Jewell Parkway, Suite 300, Gainesville. Charley Procter will see general surgery patients in TLC's Department of Surgery at 725 Jesse Jewell Parkway, Suite 350, Gainesville.

The Longstreet Clinic, incorporated in 1995, is a multi-specialty medical group owned and managed by physicians. The group has grown to include 87 physicians and more than 40 mid-level providers. It operates offices in Oakwood, Buford, Braselton, Dahlonega, Baldwin and Toccoa as well as its main office in Gainesville.
