A stretch of Buford Dam Road off Lake Lanier will be closed Oct. 15 for construction of three pedestrian crosswalks.

The crosswalks will include new speed bumps and striping.

The project affects the road in its entirety along federal property, or between Island Ford Road in Gwinnett County and the road leading to Sawnee campground in Forsyth County, Lisa Parker, Mobile, Ala., District corps spokeswoman, said.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project will force the one-day closure of parks with entrances on Buford Dam Road: Upper Overlook, Lower Pool East, Lower Overlook, Lower Pool West, West Bank Turnout and West Bank Park. The Lake Lanier Project Management Office and Visitor Center also will be closed.
