A Braselton man driving a motorcycle was killed after hitting a stopped van and being thrown from his motorcycle north of Helen near Unicoi State Park at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, authorities said.

Julian Edward Roberts, 37, was driving a 2017 Harley Davidson south when he was unable to negotiate the curve and crossed the center line on Ga. 75 north of Taylor Road, according to Georgia State Patrol Sgt. A.J. Allen.

The front of Roberts’ motorcycle struck the front driver’s side of a 2014 Honda passenger van being driven north by Jill Marie Fowler, 41, of Crawford.

Both Fowler and her passenger, Sidney William Shortt, 69, of Helen, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical center by a private party, authorities said.
