Pre-opening promotion: Free biscuit and tea in drive-thru, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday

The Bojangles’ on Friendship Road in South Hall was buzzing with activity at lunchtime Wednesday. One man even walked up to the door thinking the restaurant was already open because of the full parking lot.

But inside the restaurant known for its “famous chicken ’n biscuits,” training was in high gear ahead of an expected Tuesday opening.

“All-star” trainers from other Bojangles’, mostly restaurant assistant managers from Alabama, were helping the new location’s employees get up to speed on food preparation ahead of the opening rush.

Pre-opening deals are planned as customers can use the drive-thru to receive a free biscuit and tea from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The dining room will not be open that day.

Also, the first 50 customers Tuesday will receive a $50 Bojangles’ gift card.

The restaurant is expected to create 40-60 jobs, depending on the pace of business.

Training Manager J.J. Torres said the company’s quality biscuits, chicken and tea are helping grow the Bojangles’ brand in Georgia. Bojangles’ started in Charlotte, N.C., but continues to expand in the Peach State.

“We are starting to get that brand recognition,” Torres said.

Torres said breakfast all day is one of the restaurant’s most appealing features.

He also noted that Bojangles’ makes fresh biscuits every 20 minutes, and if biscuits aren’t sold in that time period, they are gotten rid of to make way for a fresh batch.

Just driving up the hill to the 2121 Friendship Road location got Torres excited, as Bojangles’ is part of a growing business area that includes the Publix at Friendship Springs Village, Pizza Hut and Wendy’s.

“It’s a great spot,” Torres said.

Earnie Billedeau is unit director of the new Bojangles’. She said all of the employees are new to Bojangles’ other than a pair of managers who were promoted from other locations.
