Construction on the new Laurel Park boat ramp is set to begin Thursday.

Hall County Public Works will start building a four-lane boat ramp at Laurel Park that will be the first ramp completed under the Go Fish Georgia Initiative.

The Laurel Park ramp will be widened to four lanes and extended to 350 feet in length, about 1,048 feet in elevation, making it usable in very shallow water. The project also will include construction of a fishing tournament staging area, restrooms and additional parking.

The Go Fish program is designed to promote and enhance boating and fishing tourism throughout the state.
