You nominated your favorites and then voted for them in the inaugural Best of North Georgia 2016 readers’ choice awards presented by The Times.

Our readers nominated area businesses and locales in more than 250 categories online at www.bestofnorthgeorgia.com.

There were seven main categories, which each contained numerous subcategories. The main categories are automotive and marine; food and beverage; home/personal services; medical and health; professional services; recreation/destinations; and retail.

Nominations were made by the public throughout January. Then online voting took place in February. The Best of North Georgia ballot, sponsored by Moore’s Wealth Management, drew more than 186,000 votes.
