Gainesville Police have identified the two people involved in a suspected “domestic-related murder/suicide” that they say happened Wednesday, Jan. 6, between Gainesville residents who were in a relationship.
Police said on social media the incident took place around 7 p.m. at a residence near the 1400 block of Vine Street in Gainesville, where responding officers found a man and woman dead. On Friday, they identified the two as Francisca Vazquez, 43, and Martin Elias-Perez, 41.
Gainesville Lt. Kevin Holbrook said the 911 call came from residents at the home.
Elias-Perez was identified as the offender and Vazquez the victim of the suspected murder-suicide, said Cpl. Jessica Van, a spokeswoman for the police department.
Holbrook said he did not know how to classify the relationship between the two found dead at the scene.
Remnants of police tape were still visible on scene Thursday, Jan. 7, near the intersection of Vine Street and Lucille Lane.
Hall County deputy coroner Kevin Wetzel did not have details available to share on the case Thursday evening.
Police have still not released the manner of death in the case. Holbrook said investigators were processing the scene through the night Wednesday.
