Exit 17 of Interstate 985 was closed Dec. 12 following a one-vehicle wreck on the southbound side, according to the Gainesville Fire Department.

Due to debris and emergency vehicles, the exit will be closed “for an extended period,” fire department spokesman Keith Smith wrote in an email just after 2 p.m. About 15 minutes later, he wrote the exit had reopened, noting travelers still need to use caution.

One person was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, he said, and Georgia State Patrol was on scene with the vehicle.

The Times is working to get further details from the state patrol. This article will be updated.
