An employee was killed in a workplace accident early Wednesday morning at Fieldale Farms’ Murrayville facility on Thompson Bridge Road.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call at about 3 a.m. Jan. 15 and identified the employee as Chit Tuay, 38, of Stone Mountain.

Tuay had been working for the poultry company for five years and was on the sanitation team, President Tom Hensley said.

“We’re devastated … and just feel for his family,” Hensley said.

Tuay was standing on a short ladder and slipped off, landing on his head, Hensley said.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is conducting an investigation, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Police are also awaiting autopsy results.
