Badge and Bar: Man allegedly tried to force woman into car at courthouse

A Lithonia man was accused of shoving a woman and attempting to force her inside of a car near the Hall County courthouse, authorities said.

Deputies were called out Thursday, Aug. 29, regarding two people fighting in the Hall County Courthouse parking deck.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth said a woman came to pick up the suspect at the courthouse.

“As the two were switching roles as passenger and driver, he struck her in the mouth causing a visible injury.  Deputies determined that (the suspect) had pushed and shoved the victim around the car and attempted to force her inside of it,” Booth wrote in an email.

Deputies detained the 34-year-old suspect, and he was later charged with false imprisonment, kidnapping and battery under the Family Violence Act.

He was booked in to the Hall County Jail, where he is being held without bond.

The case is still under investigation.


Woman accused of attempted knife attack

A Gainesville woman was accused of grabbing a knife as well as breaking parts of the victim’s car, according to authorities.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth said the 25-year-old woman grabbed a knife and “attempted to attack the victim.”

She also allegedly got into the victim’s car.

“It appeared that she broke items like the rear-view mirror and turn signal indicator.  I don’t have information on the manner with which it occurred,” Booth wrote in an email.

The suspect was arrested at her residence and charged with aggravated assault and criminal trespass under the Family Violence Act.

She was booked in to the Hall County Jail, where she is being held without bond.

The case is still under investigation.


Man accused of crashing into SUV

A Gainesville man was accused of intentionally driving his pickup truck into an SUV that was pulling out of a driveway, according to authorities.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth said the incident took place around 4:55 a.m. Aug. 30 when the SUV pulled out of a Lula driveway.

Two people were inside the SUV, including a woman who had previously been in a relationship with the suspect.

Both people in the SUV refused medical treatment, and the suspect was uninjured.

The 52-year-old suspect was arrested at a nearby gas station.

He was booked in to the Hall County Jail, where he is being held on a $11,400 bond.

The charges listed on the jail log were aggravated assault.

The case is still under investigation..
