Authorities said a man got into a fight with his nephew and then purposely hit him with a car.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth said the 36-year-old man got into a fight with his 21-year-old nephew May 15 outside of a Floyd Road residence in Gainesville. After bystanders intervened, the uncle got into his car.

“He drove off before deputies arrived, purposely hitting his nephew with the car in the process. Hall County Fire Services responded to assess the victim’s leg pain,” Booth wrote in a news release.

The nephew was assessed at Northeast Georgia Medical Center after suffering moderate injuries.

The man was taken into custody Tuesday, May 21, and was released from the jail Thursday on a $5,700 bond. He is facing a charge of aggravated assault, and the case is still under investigation.

Authorities: Man tried to run from traffic stop, charged with heroin trafficking

Authorities say an Oakwood man ran from a traffic stop; he was later charged with possessing three different drugs.

The traffic stop was made Wednesday, May 22, in the 600 block of Atlanta Highway in Gainesville, Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad Lt. Don Scalia said.

After a brief foot chase, authorities caught the 28-year-old man.

Scalia said the man was found with 4.5 grams of heroin, more than 2 ounces of marijuana, 40 ecstasy pills, digital scales, packaging materials and more than $1,000 in cash.

He was charged with trafficking heroin and possession of MDMA and marijuana with intent to distribute.

Man arrested on outstanding probation warrant after search

Gainesville Police and the Georgia State Patrol’s aviation unit helped Hall County deputies find a man wanted on an outstanding probation warrant.

Sheriff’s Office Lt. Scott Ware said the warrant was for a 28-year-old Gainesville man, stemming from a 2014 robbery charge.

Ware said the man ran Thursday, May 23, from a Ridgemont Trace home off of Old Flowery Branch Road.

Authorities located him roughly an hour later on Rockrose Green Way at Clubside Drive in Gainesville, which is roughly 1.5 miles from the first home.

He was booked in to the Hall County Jail.
