A new company opening an office in Flowery Branch plans to hire 50 people by October for its background check business — and another 100 people by the end of 2017.

Wholesale Screening Solutions will open in a former bank building at 5977 Spout Springs Road, along with Georgia Public Records Solutions. Both are subsidiaries of Lowers Risk Group, headquartered in Purcellville, Va.

Wholesale Screening Solutions provides public records research and verifications for employment screening, tenant screening and risk mitigation providers.

The announcement of the new business, and its 150 jobs, was made Tuesday.

Tim Evans, vice president of economic development for the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce, said the company was looking for a Georgia location. Hall County officials worked with it about two and a half to three months, he said.

“It’s been a fairly fast-moving process,” Evans said.

He explained that Georgia Public Records Solutions had an office in Buford and had outgrown it.

Evans emphasized the potential for the company working with the criminal justice programs at Lanier Technical College and the University of North Georgia.

“It’s a really good opportunity for (students) at both institutions to get some real-life experience,” Evans said.

The building the company is leasing is owned by Radial Property Group and has 19,660 square feet of space.

“Lowers Risk Group has an exciting growth trajectory, and we are pleased that Flowery Branch and Hall County will be a part of that growth,” Evans said.

“This expansion improves our ability to scale for our continued growth, and is an important part of our business continuity plan,” Matthew Lowers, president of Wholesale Screening Solutions, said in a press release.

Wholesale Screening has twice ranked in the Inc. 5,000 for being among the fastest growing privately-held businesses in America. In 2015, the company ranked No. 1,010 on the list, based on 3-year growth of 432 percent, according to a chamber press release and the company’s website.

The company website said Wholesale Screening Solutions has more than 300 employees.

Evans said the company produces 5,000 criminal background checks per day. He said Georgia is “one of the more challenging states” for background checks because it has 159 counties and not all have electronic records that can be searched.

He said Wholesale Screening Solutions sends people to courthouses to check records when electronic databases are not available.

Lowers Risk Group is recruiting criminal research analysts for its new office. It is working with the state Department of Labor.

Individuals can check the Georgia DOL website. Candidates must apply through the Employ Georgia website by establishing an Employ Georgia account, uploading a resume, and applying for the Lowers Risk Group Research Analyst posting in Flowery Branch. The posting ID is #501551881.

The DOL’s Gainesville center will support the company with job postings. The company will use Lanier Technical College and the Quick Start Training program to support some of the initial training needs during the startup period.

Lowers Risk Group Recruitment also will host an employment recruitment fair 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 19, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 20 at the Georgia Department of Labor’s Gainesville Career Center, 2756 Atlanta Highway.
