Multiple law enforcement agencies spent Tuesday tracking a suspect with outstanding warrants of kidnapping and child cruelty.

Oakwood Police took a call of a suspicious vehicle before 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Quality Inn in Oakwood.

“When officers arrived, they encountered three subjects in a Chevrolet Blazer,” Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Deputy Nicole Bailes said. “(Upon) making contact with the vehicle, a black male fled on foot from the vehicle.”

The suspect was identified as 19-year-old Damon Jackson, who has outstanding warrants from the Sheriff’s Office and Gainesville Police. The charges include kidnapping, first-degree child cruelty, theft by taking and three counts of battery.

Hall County and Oakwood Police, along with K-9 units, tracked Jackson in the area of Mundy Mill Drive and Smithson Boulevard.

The search was suspended Tuesday afternoon as “Jackson managed to evade our K-9 officers,” Bailes wrote in an email.
